Nashville, TN (September 3, 2019) —Organizers of this year’s PNC presents Wide Open Bluegrass, the free weekend festival that takes place at Raleigh’s Red Hat Amphitheater and on 7 additional stages in downtown Raleigh September 27-28, revealed additional guest performances for the Main Stage (Red Hat Amphitheater) at this year’s festival:
The critically acclaimed Balsam Range will be joined by a collaboration between the Raleigh Civic Symphony and students from the N.C. State University music program – dubbed the N.C. State Symphony Orchestra – for a special set on Friday night.
On Saturday, bluegrass icon Del McCoury’s Saturday night “Delebration” set will include Jerry Douglas, Preservation Hall Jazz Band, Jon Fishman (of Phish), and Sierra Hull, joining previously announced guest Sam Bush for a star-studded celebration of McCoury’s legendary career.
Additionally, in two weeks, an announcement will be made concerning a major music superstar who will join the “Delebration” at Red Hat Amphitheater on September 28.
Performances at Raleigh’s Red Hat Amphitheater will begin at 5pm each night; they are open to the public for free, but subject to venue capacity.
A limited number of reserved seats in prime sections of the venue are still available for purchase to ensure admittance for every performance.
Paul Schiminger, Executive Director of IBMA, said, “It’s our tradition to have Hall of Fame artists, award-winning artists, and fun special collaborations on the Wide Open Bluegrass Main Stage. Our announcements today check all of those boxes and more. Having the IBMA’s reigning Entertainers of the Year, Balsam Range, on the stage with the N.C. State Symphony Orchestra will be an amazing genre-broadening musical performance. Then, the “Delabration” with Del McCoury is shaping up to be a once-in-a-lifetime experience. I recommend fans act quickly and not wait until after our next announcement to grab the remaining reserved seats. It’s going to be a blast!
Wide Open Bluegrass will continue to be a fundraising vehicle for the IBMA Bluegrass Trust Fund, which provides direct financial assistance to bluegrass artists and other industry professionals in times of emergency need. To date, the Trust Fund has given more than $800,000 in direct aid.
