IBMA Business Conference attendees can sign up for the Songwriter Track at NO ADDITIONAL COST! Conference registration includes all Songwriter Track events as well as all other conference events (e.g. IBMA Keynote Address, IBMA Industry & Momentum Awards luncheons, Exhibit Hall, and more)!
The Songwriter Track events are geared for songwriters interested cultivating the craft, developing solid business practices, networking, and pitching material to bluegrass artists and producers. Events include:
A great way to meet and network with other writers and some of our industry’s top publishers, record producers, song pluggers, record label reps and artists. Held in a relaxed setting, including refreshments and cash bar. Don’t miss it!
The IBMA Songwriter Showcase is a unique opportunity to showcase your original compositions before a live audience at IBMA World of Bluegrass. Each participant performs one song for an audience of artists, producers, and publishers looking for new material. It all starts with a song!
Mentor sessions a unique opportunity for up and coming writers to learn from some of the most accomplished songwriters in our genre….face to face. These one-on-one sessions are an extension of our ongoing and very successful Songwriter Mentor program.
In addition to special events like the Songwriter Showcase and Mentor Sessions, seminars tailored specifically for songwriters and lead by the best in the business will engage you with critical issues in publishing and copyright, royalties, co-writing, pitching, and more!
Get constructive feedback on your craft from some of the best in bluegrass songwriting!
Bring in a demo of what you feel is one of your best songs, along with printed lyrics, to the session. Our panel will give you constructive and useful evaluation on both composition and presentation. Demos will be chosen at random and writers will remain anonymous.
Bring a new song to share! These are low-key performance and networking opportunities to provide a relaxed “in the round” environment for sharing your songs and knowledge of the craft, as well as meeting potential co-writers.
Each of our three Thursday afternoon circles will be hosted by a pair of our member writers.
